My 2016 New Year’s Resolutions

Hey guys,

Now I get that this post is a little (like three weeks) late, and that probably a lot of us have already given up on our New Year’s Resolutions or simply just don’t care about them much past January 1st. With that being said, I’ve always been the kind of person to make resolutions for the new year, even though most of the time I would never really keep them all that long. This year, on the other hand, I am determined to change my ways and actually keep my resolutions for once. Htumblr_o0n64jeorB1skydfdo1_1280opefully posting them here for everyone to see will give me a little extra motivation as the months go on!

1.  Get healthy.

This one is a New Year’s Resolution classic for almost everyone. Each year I vow to start working out more and eating healthier, and every year I always fail miserably. This year though, I have gained the infamous Freshman 15 (a blog post coming on that subject soon), and I feel a strong desire to get back into the shape I was in before way too many frat parties and late night pizzas.

2.  Improve my grades.

This should probably come to no surprise to anyone who has ever taken a post-secondary class, but university is hard. Very hard. And a lot of the time, no matter how many classes you attend, how many days a week you lock yourself in the library, and how many hours you study, you will still get a terrible mark on something you worked diligently on. I know that sometimes bad grades are inevitable, but this year I want to make everything I turn in is so damn good that the profs will have write their own essay just on how to mark me.

3.  Meet new people.

In the first couple months of university, it can feel overwhelming just how many people you meet on a weekly basis. Then, once everyone settles into a routine it starts to feel as if theres no where to go to meet new people, even when you go to a school of thousands. This year I want to make an effort to constantly meet new, interesting people, whether it be in my classes, residence, extracurriculars, or at random events. Variety is, after all, the spice of life.

4.  Step out of my comfort zone.

Continuing along the theme of “new”, I want to always make sure that I try something new when things start to get a little boring in  life. I want to do all the things I haven’t had the courage to do in the past, like get a tattoo, go bungee jumping, or spend a week at a music festival. My goal is to always keep life exciting, no matter how much it may freak me out in the process.

5.  Find myself.

This may be the ultimate resolution/ life goal cliche, but I love it anyway. I think that every new year is an opportunity to grow and to figure who we are and what we want out of life. I’m excited to see what the new year holds for me, and I’m exciting to share it with all of you.

XoXo, Ana.
